Golden Arrow District
The requirements for the various adult training knots are modified from year to year. The official listing of the requirements is in the Leadership Training Committee Guide, BSA Pub #34169E. This publication has a copyright date of 1999, and there were new versions published in 2000 and 2001 (see the date at the bottom of the page just before Page 1 of the booklet). There were changes made in 2000 and again in 2001, and we expect there will be further changes in the 2002 version. The 2001 edition was sent to the printers in early 2001, but the 2001 edition was not available at the SHAC Scout Shop until September 2001.
Comparing the 2000 and 2001 editions, the changes in the requirements for the knots are as follows:
- The training requirements have been modified to reflect the new training courses that were started in the GAD in September 2001.
- Tiger Cub Coach Award - this award was deleted (see Tiger Cub Den Leader Award).
- Den Leader Coach Award - this award was deleted*.
- Tiger Cub Den Leader Award - this is a new award. The tenure requirement is to be a registered Tiger Cub den leader* for one year. The performance requirements are the same as previously for the Tiger Cub Coach Award. The knot to be awarded is the same as previously for the Tiger Cub Coach Award - orange and black knot on yellow background with orange border.
- Webelos Den Leader Award - minor change in next to last performance requirement.
- Cub Scouter Award - minor change in fifth performance requirement.
* BSA Pub #13-595, Second 2001 Revision -- This documents indicates that the Den Leader Coach Award is "not available after December 31, 2002". Since this award has a two year tenure requirement, it appears that an adult who became a Den Leader Coach prior to January 1, 2001, and who completes the requirements prior to December 31, 2002, can still receive the Den Leader Coach Award. Also, under the requirements for Tiger Cub Den Leader Award, this publication shows that the tenure requirement can be met by serving as either a Tiger Cub Den Leader or as a Tiger Cub Coach.
Please note that there are a wide variety of websites that list the requirements for training knots. However, some of the websites are not often updated and the requirements shown may be out of date.
